Christ Church Choir

Christ Church Bexleyheath is fortunate to have a solid choral tradition stretching back over very many decades. Blessed with a fine acoustic in the chancel, a solid Hunter organ and the enthusiasm and commitment of the choir members, the church retains a healthy four-part robed Adult Choir and a thriving Junior Choir (age 7-15).

Music at Christ church Bexleyheath remains centred around the great traditional hymns, anthems, psalms and motets. In more recent years these have been supplemented by responsorial psalms, Taizé music, and plainsong to reflect the changes in worship patterns and also adopted by many other churches in the UK and abroad.

The choir is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music which aims to promote a high standard of singing in church.

The RSCM offers courses which individuals or groups may attend; in the past the choir have attended the Diocesan Choral Festival in Rochester Cathedral.

In addition to other special occasions such as the Advent Carol Service and the Christmas Carol Service we also like to do a special BCP Choral Evensong several times a year. During Passiontide and Easter we also like to prepare special music. We are also grateful for additional singers from other churches in the area who come and help out as and when they are able.

Choir Practices

We meet every Friday in our Choir Vestry.

Juniors practise between 6.45 & 7.30 p.m. during school term times.

Adults practise between 7.45 & 9.20 p.m.

Church Services

We all sing at most 10.00 a.m. morning services (When there is a Family Service, that is usually led by our Worship Group); At the 6.00 p.m. evening services we do not expect our Junior Choir to come.

We also participate in Church Concerts and when asked, at occasional weddings and funerals.

If you are interested in joining either our Junior or Senior our choir, please contact our Choir Director, who will be very happy to answer any questions and tell you of the many benefits of joining the choir.
